Clean Slate: What if Life gave you a Do-Over?

I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning.

The trees were coated with a thin layer of bright-white puffs of snow. Cars were covered with powdery snow pellets and all of the sidewalks and driveways were smeared afresh and whitened by the falling snow.

Everything was still and quiet outside because of the two-hour delays. All that could be heard was the pit-plat-pit-plat of frozen flakes.

The muddy-gray cement and earth-caked roadways had been transformed overnight as God reached down from heaven and painted everything clean.

What if God could apply his paintbrush to our lives?

It would be like a cosmic do-over!

Our dirty mud-globs cleaned up with one swoosh of the brush, the scratches on our life-canvas painted a glistening white.

What if those regrets of our past that paint our hearts and minds black with sorrow could be swiped white by the master Painter?

What if we could wake up one day and look out of the window of our lives to see that overnight, everything ugly has been transformed into a white wonderland?

Looking out my kitchen window this morning I couldn’t help but think about the verse that promises this type of transformation…

Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow…Isaiah 1.18 NLT

More beautiful than pure-white new snow to me is knowing that all that makes my life ugly, dirty, and unmanageable can be made new as I place my life in the Master painter’s hands.

A dab here, a sweeping stroke there, a dollop in the right place and the painting of my life is re-worked.

Like the snow re-making the landscape, so God’s creative inspiration re-creates my life into something that does not resemble yesterday’s picture.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus…Eph 2:10 NLT

Just as God paints His snowy landscape, so too in Christ, can I become His brand new masterpiece.
