For the Ladies: What it means to be Loved..

Warning: Guys this is mushy girls’ stuff, so you may want to read one of my other posts. Though this sentiment most definitely applies to the Father’s heart for you too, it is definitely “all girl” in its tone. Read at your own risk of being sucked into the mush-morass 😉

During my devotional times I have been really praying that I will hear God in whatever way He wants to show up. I often spend so much time talking that I miss how He wants to break in to my devotions… translation, I am often so busy “devoting” that I neglect to give Him air-time to respond. This morning, either His break-in was louder than normal, or I simply stopped to listen and once I became still, I followed what I heard, the faint tinkling of a melody… this is what I heard…

Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman (Bryan Adams: Don Juan Demarco soundtrack: Listen here)

To really love a woman
To understand her – you gotta know it deep inside
Hear every thought – see every dream
N’ give her wings – when she wants to fly
Then when you find yourself lyin’ helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman

When you love a woman you tell her
that she’s really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she’s the one
she needs somebody to tell her
that it’s gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
– really really ever loved a woman?

To really love a woman
Let her hold you –
til ya know how she needs to be touched
You’ve gotta breathe her – really taste her
Til you can feel her in your blood
N’ when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman

When you love a woman
you tell her that she’s really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she’s the one
she needs somebody to tell her
that you’ll always be together
So tell me have you ever really –
really really ever loved a woman?

You got to give her some faith – hold her tight
A little tenderness – gotta treat her right
She will be there for you, takin’ good care of you
Ya really gotta love your woman…

Then when you find yourself lyin’ helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman you tell her
that she’s really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she’s the one
she needs somebody to tell her
that it’s gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
– really really ever loved a woman?

Just tell me have you ever really,
really, really, ever loved a woman? You got to tell me
Just tell me have you ever really,
really, really, ever loved a woman?

I had not thought about this song in years and had not heard it since 2002. As I downloaded it off iTunes and began listening, I was flooded with a sense of understanding God’s love for me. Jesus, lover of my soul. God LOVES me, passionately. Why this is always a surprise to me, I am not sure! But each time God breaks in with an expression of His love for me I am overwhelmed with gratefulness. I have not stopped smiling all morning. To know that I am loved, to know that as a people of God, WE all are loved by the Creator of the Universe leaves me speechless in awe…

Job 14.3: Oh that you would set a definite time and then remember me earnestly [and imprint me upon your heart]!

Song of Songs 8:6-7: Set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death…many waters cannot quench love…

Deuteronomy 33:12: …The beloved of Jehovah shall dwell securely beside Him, covering him all the day long; yea he shall dwell between His shoulders.
